Emiko Kamitani, PhD, MPH, MS, RN
Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer
With over 20 years of experience across clinical care, community health, academia, and federal public health, Dr. Kamitani is a specialist in synthesizing and translating evidence into real-world practice and digital health innovation. She leads the organization’s strategy and operations to ensure R2I’s success as a business and its impact on public health.

Cynthia Lyles, PhD
Co-Founder & Chief Strategy Officer
With over 30 years of experience as a biostatistician, behavioral scientists, and a public health leader, Dr. Lyles leads the strategic direction of R2I, advising on science, policy, dissemination, and implementation. She prioritizes scientifically rigorous methods, strategic partnerships, and innovative strategies in R2I's work.

Alex Viguerie, PhD
Subject Matter Expert
Dr. Viguerie is a mathematician with extensive experience in computational and data-driven modeling of public health challenges. He previously served as a research scientist at the CDC, specializing in the synergy of mathematical paradigms to address complex epidemiological problems. His work bridges the gap between high-level mathematics and practical health applications.

Cam Escoffery, PhD, MPH, CHES
Senior Advisor
Dr. Escoffery is a Professor in the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. She has more than 30 years of experience in health promotion, cancer and chronic disease prevention and control, evaluation and implementation science. She has authored more than 200 publications in health promotion and implementation science journals.

Don Operario, PhD
Senior Advisor
Dr. Operario is the Grace Crum Rollins Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Behavioral, Social, and Health Education Sciences at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. He has authored more than 350 publications and has served as Principal Investigator or co-Investigator on over 35 externally funded research projects.

Jo Stryker, PhD
Subject Matter Expert
Dr. Stryker has more than 25 years of experience in health communication, specializing in campaign strategy, message design, and evaluation. She spent 16 years at the CDC’s leading national evidence-based communication initiatives. Her work bridges behavioral science, public health, and practical implementation.

Robert A. Hahn, PhD, MPH
Senior Advisor
Dr. Hahn received a BA from Cornell, a PhD in anthropology from Harvard, and an MPH from the University of Washington. He served as an Epidemic Intelligence Officer at the CDC from 1986 - 88, and conducted research at the CDC for an additional 32 years. For 20 years he led research synthesis teams for the Guide to Community Preventive Services. Much of his research focused on social determinants of health and health equity.

Amrita Tailor, PhD, MPH
Senior Advisor
Dr. Tailor brings over 20 years of experience bridging evidence-based science and health information technology. As a former lead scientist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, she guided development of high-impact clinical guidelines and specialized in translating research into actionable clinical decision support systems, computable guidelines, and EHR-integrated tools. She currently serves as Head of Clinical Support Systems at Krishmatics.

Carol Dawson-Rose, PhD, RN, FAAN
Senior Advisor
Dean Dawson-Rose is the Dean of the School of Nursing and Associate Vice Chancellor for Nursing Affairs at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). An expert in implementation science, she brings more than 35 years of academic, administrative, and research experience to her work translating evidence-based interventions to improve care and reduce disparities. She currently represents the School of Nursing on the UCSF AIDS Research Institute executive committee and the internal advisory board for the Center for AIDS Research.

Gema Dumitru, MD, MPH
Senior Advisor
Dr. Dumitru was a Health Scientist at the CDC with over two decades of public health experience. She has been instrumental in supporting the CDC’s mission to protect and improve public health through science-based programs and initiatives. Her career spans multiple years of service, during which she developed and implemented strategies to address national health challenges on topics including HIV, asthma, nutrition and physical activity, and environmental health.

Linda J. Koenig, PhD
Senior Advisor
Dr. Koenig retired from the CDC after a nearly 30 year career as a senior scientist and manager in the Division of HIV Prevention. With over 100 scientific publications, Dr. Koenig is an expert in areas of HIV and youth, violence and sexual risk, mental health, and medication adherence and care navigation.

Siobhán M. O’Connor, MD, MPH, FACR
Senior Advisor
Dr. O’Connor is a physician scientist with over 25 years of experience in domestic and international public health and patient medical care. Her multidisciplinary background in developing, implementing, and leading public health programs and clinical trials that span and integrate infectious diseases and chronic diseases. She has extensive experience in infectious disease and chronic disease prevention, epidemiology, and improving chronic health outcomes.

Amy Lansky, PhD, MPH
Senior Advisor
Dr. Lansky retired from the CDC after a 30+ year career in science, leadership, and strategy positions. She previously served as Director of the White House Office of National AIDS Policy and as Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of National Drug Control Policy. With nearly 100 scientific publications, Dr. Lansky is an expert in areas of evidence-synthesis and guidelines development and HIV prevention.

Charles B Collins, Jr., PhD
Subject Matter Expert
Dr. Collins served as a Senior Health Scientist at the CDC for 25 years, leading the national dissemination of evidence-based behavioral interventions into HIV prevention and treatment practice, utilizing strategic partnerships for program adoption and implementation. He also has experience in conducting systematic reviews and the development of Guidelines and Clinical Practice Guides. He has published multiple peer-reviewed articles.

Jeffrey H. Herbst, PhD
Subject Matter Expert
Dr. Herbst is a psychologist and a board-certified coach with over 38 years of experience in research, leadership and public health. He retired from the CDC following a distinguished career of nearly 40 years as a Senior Scientist and Branch Chief. Dr. Herbst authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.

Md Hafizul Islam, PhD, MBA
Subject Matter Expert
Dr. Islam is an experienced researcher in public health analytics with over 13 years of academic and professional experience, including five and a half years at the CDC. His research focuses on optimization, simulation, economic evaluation, and machine learning methods to support public health policy and social good, with publications in leading scientific journals.
